The ceremonies were usually organized at the site occasionally, in connection with the anniversaries of the poet's birth or death. The monument remained present in tourist guides, but it is difficult to speak of its special distinction as an attraction for visitors. It was only the need to move and the discussion of this project by the local authorities and in the regional media that animated public interest in the monument. And school students from the Secondary School in Gorzw started to organize happenings at Mickiewicz Street to symbolize, among other things, the moving of the monument.------Pigpile of t-shirt & jeans cognac faux leather crossbody tote bagPigpile is a live recording from July 24, 1987 during the post-hardcore band Big Black's final European tour, released originally as a VHS tape (it was their second video release, following the 'Live' tape on Atavistic Records.) and later issued as an audio-only LP/CD. It is often shortened simply to post hoc fallacy.A logical fallacy of the questionable cause variety, it is subtly different from the fallacy cum hoc ergo propter hoc ("with this, therefore because of this"), in which two events occur simultaneously or the chronological ordering is insignificant or unknown.Post hoc is a particularly tempting error because correlation appears to suggest causality. The fallacy lies in a conclusion based solely on the order of events, rather than taking into account other factors potentially responsible for the result that might rule out the connection.A simple example is "the rooster crows immediately before sunrise; therefore the rooster causes the sun to rise."------Raymond & Maria of t-shirt & jeans cognac faux leather crossbody tote bagRaymond & Maria was a Swedish pop group. What Would Be the State of Society Without Semiconductors? [closed]
You can do everything with valves or microrelays. But, without semiconductors you cannot do microprocessors. Miniaturization cannot take place so you wont see portable devices. You can integrate and miniaturize valves :We cannot know how much more could thermionic valves be miniaturized or integrated. Transistors provided a easier path and that was followed instead. With this in mind you can build the following:Due to the lower reliability of valved circuits, you would not want to do:You cannot do :Decided to edit my post because of a lot of answers with wrong ideas being posted:You can do computers with vacuum tubes (called valves in UK). The computers can be quite complex. The only difference between a modern computer and a computer made with vacuum tubes is scale. Transistors are made today on nanometer scale while the smallest valve could be made at milimeter scale. This means a lot of things. 1 - The less integration increases path delays amont units. This means that there will be a upper limit on the maximum speed of the computer. And this limit will be much smaller than the limit imposed on current silicon-on-sapphire designs. Integration means that all devices that compose a microprocessor are micrometers away at most. 2 - The use of a heat source to make thermionic emission possible means that valves have a much larger thermal footprint than semiconductors. This means that large designs will present a thermal management challenge. 3 - They use a lot more power than semiconductors. This means that computers will tend to be centralized and used as a kind of utility, just like your phone, your water and your eletricity. What you would have at your home would be probably a dumb terminal made out of simple valved circuits. Multitasking at the central computer means that a lot of people can and do stay connected at the same time. Maybe the generally smaller bandwidth disponible will preclude the development of graphical applications. Etc. In other words, computers will gravitate mainframe era designs.About modems, yes, you can do modems with vacuum tubes. What must be understood about vacuum tubes is that they have the behaviour of a cmos transistor. BUT, they operate at higher voltages and their size is much bigger than the usual CMOS transistor. This means that anything that can be done with CMOS transmistors might be possible using vacuum tubes, minus the miniaturization. You can do ASK/FSK/PSK modems with vacuum tubes. You can do analog to digital converters. etc. You can do precision guidance systems. For one, the missiles and radar on the MiG-25 (and other aircraft of the era) where fully vacuum tube based. Guiding a missile across a radar beam is precision guidance (just not fire and forget, but its not all that hard to build radar homing active guidance missiles with vacuum tubes). About TV. Analog color tv is designed around backward compatibility with analog BW tv. This placed certain constraints on the signal quality. Color information is carried in a phase modulation embedded into the luminance signal of the original BW tv. This means that a limited bandwidth was divided between two signals. Luminance gets most of the bandwidth. But, provided that there was no transistors disponible and people wanted a higher resolution TV standard, you can increase resolution by increasing the bandwidth disponible. This means that the usually 6mhz color tv channels used in analog NTSC tv might be enlarged to 12mhz or more to include a separated color carrier. This alone can increase the perceived resolution of color tvs. Thats not impossible, it was not economical at the time the color tv standards where created. Regarding satellites, most satellites are operated as dumb repeaters. Eletronics inside the satellites are at premium. Space is constrained by thermal management needs and the general cost of launch that is proportional to weight. Being at 300km above ground or more means that repair on-site is impossible or quite costly (see hubble space telescope). This means that eletronics inside the satellites are bare, just enough to repeat signals. You can include beamforming systems on the sats to increase the bandwidth disponible by employing spatial multiplexing, and the algorithmns involved in such beamforming might very well be beyong vacuum tube capabilities, but, non-beamforming sats can be and are still usefull. So, miniaturized valves or not, you can still build satellites. A side not is about a computer capable of guiding the apollo missions. Yes, it can be done. Usually if you cannot treat some problem digitally you can do it in a analog computer. So, provided that you can miniaturize valves to 30mm scale, you can very well build a small computer capable of integrating speeds and other variables needed to space travel. You can beam a couple of tight radio wave beams towards the moon, you can do WW2 era navigation with radio navigation aids. You might be surprised what can be achieved with vacuum tube technology. You might be interested in the battle of beams wich ocurred in WW2. Collossus and other computers of the time might provide a hint how computers would evolve if vacuum tubes where the only option.1. A/C Tech put air into my a/c by not bleeding the manifold guage lines. How bad is it?Most refrigeration guages have check valves in them so when he connected them to your system the vapor that was in his hoses were filled with refrigerant from his last job. Even if they were not he could not cause any problems to your system by just hooking up his guages, unless his hoses were filled with water. Do not worry enjoy the air conditioning.2. What are the symptoms of a slipped belt on a manual transmisson engine? The symptoms would be the same as on an engine with an automatic transmission: the car would not run. At all. Slipping the equivalent of one tooth on the timing belt would mean that valves are down when they should be up (and vice versa), and the result would be a mess that would barely turn over. If the engine just cuts out, then it sounds like some sort of electrical failure in the ignition circuits. Maybe the voltage regulator. But if it coughs and wheezes, that would point to a fuel line problem. My bet is electrical.3. Do I need an engine overhaul?a rebuild kit is not comparable to having your Eng rebuilt. To rebuild an Eng you need to have great machines that rebore the cylinders interior the block and likewise regrind or replace the valve seats and and valves. the greatest and least severe priced approach is to purchase a already rebuilt block from an automobile furnish save . Then take your heads to a automobile gadget save the place they are going to resurface the valves and valve seats and replace the valve courses. then you definately positioned your rebuilt heads on the rebuilt block. then you definately've a clean engine.
Trump's Campaign Stopped TV Ads in Many States in order to "retool" Their Strategy. It Just Announced a Big Ad Buy for Ohio, Where Polls Have Trump Ahead By
If Trump cannot hold Ohio, he cannot win. If he loses Ohio, that means he loses Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. It would probably mean he lost Florida, also. A poll yesterday (August 3, 2020) had Biden up by four. Ohio poll reveals what issues are motivating voters in 2020 However, most polls have the election closer than that. The quality of state polls is also variable. The election is in three months. A lot will happen in that time. Right now Trump is polling very weakly because of the coronavirus. If the virus is brought under control; and schools reopen without major problems; and businesses reopen with better than expected revenues, Trump will quickly close the gap. Those are a lot of ifu2019s. I think the odds of all that happening are slim, but it is certainly possible.I doubt that huge media buys three months out will have much of an impact, as Trump is a known quantity. But his campaign has money to burn. My gut tells me the election will come down to Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. If Biden flips them, he wins. If not, he loses. This answer is not a substitute for professional legal advice. This answer does not create an attorney-client relationship, nor is it a solicitation to offer legal advice. Was it a matter of motivation or inferior weapons? Rommel cost the Italians dearly as the following clip from a recent movie to do with the Siege of Tobruk clearly shows:On 17 April 1941, an Italian infantry battalion from the 'Trento' Division launched a courageous but suicidal attack against Tobruk. Despite the failure of Rommel to issue clear orders to the German liaison officers attached to the Italian division and a German Panzer unit failing to show up, the Italians press forward but are soon checked and and dispersed due to heavy machinegun and artillery fire. The Australians reported at the time that "The Italians attacked our 48 Bn and whilst withdrawing they (the Italians) were fired upon by German tanks believed to be supporting the attack. " The Australians send out Bren-Gun carriers to outflank and capture the Italians caught in the crossfire. This extra firepower finally breaks the will of the Italians, and all firing ceases. Italian casualties turn out to be 24 dead, 112 wounded and 436 prisoners, including their commanding officer. The captured Italian colonel was so furious with Rommel and having his battalion shot up from behind by the German late arrivals in the form of Panzers tanks that he fully cooperated with the Allied Tobruk Headquarters. (Source: Italy At War Day By Day: 1940-1945 u2022 Axis History Forum Italy At War Day By Day: 1940-1945)A week later, the German Chief-of-Staff General Franz Halder sent General Friedrich von Paulus to North Africa to rein in Rommel and "correct matters which had got out of hand." ("If I go to North Africa, I must have command authority. Brauchitsch has reservations, and mentions difficulties with the Italian High Command. I know this is only a pretext, but perhaps it would be preferable to sent Generalleutant Paulus. He is on friendly terms with Rommel, from former times and may be in a position to use his personal influence to put an end to the initiatives of this lunatic. " Field Marshal Von Manstein, Marcel Stein, Gwyneth Fairbank, pp. 124-125, Helion & Company Limited, 2007) ------ Will Ohio still choose the winner of the Presidency in 2020? While it is true that DeWine (R) won the Governors mansion, its also true that Sherrod Brown (D) won reelection. Not only that, but Sherrod Brown won reelection with a higher percentage of the vote than he did last time around. I dont see any reason why Ohio wouldnt go for a Democrat in the next election if the Democrats put up the right kind of candidate. The problem that the Democrats have in Ohio is that the demographics for which they have the most growth are leaving the state. A lot of Ohio has a somewhat backwards economy compared to the rest of the nation. Back in the day, there was a substantial over reliance on manufacturing, not quite to the levels of say Michigan, but still very high. Meanwhile, theres a lot of state money going to educate graduates, who leave the state for better economic opportunity elsewhere. So, the Democrats are left with a coalition primarily of minorities and blue collar workers, as the younger progressives have left. Unfortunately, Hillary seemed to do more to alienate the blue collar workers, while Trump was an ideal candidate to appeal to them. If the Democrats decide to try to go for another stiff candidate like Hillary, theres a good chance that Ohio will go for Trump, regardless of who actually wins. If, on the other hand, the Democrats want to pick a more engaging candidate, like Obama, or someone grounded in midwestern sensibilities, like Sherrod Brown, theyll have a strong chance of actually winning Ohio. In the latter case, I suspect Ohio will vote for the winner of the election. If you want to read something from the last two governors elections in Ohio, one thats perhaps overlooked is that the Democrats have a knack for selecting candidates who are flawed. Some, like Fitzgerald, were exceptionally so. (Kasich was effectively unopposed by the time of his reelection. ) Democrats can win Ohio, but will they try to do so? I dont know the answer for that ------ How Ahmad Shah Abdali defeated Brave Maratha Army and slaughtered more than lacs of Marathas? Under Abdali 20000 to 30000 soldiers were killed or injured. Additional 10000 were killed in Kunjpura. Keep in mind that not all soldiers were just his. It includes soldiers of Mughal alliance too.Marathas lost 30000 soldiers and additional 10000 who were caught fleeing. Also 70000 Maratha civilians were killed where all boys over 14 were beheaded infront of their mothers. Additional 30000 - 40000 were taken as slaves.Slave band of Maratha Soldiers couldn't be saved and till today has descendants living in areas of Balochistan. The Marhtta Qaumii Itehad of Balochistan. The largest organisation of the Maratha community. The community in Balochistan comprises descendants of Maratha Soldiers who were taken prisoner by Ahmed Shah Abdali, founder of the Durrani empire, and later taken to Afghanistan as slaves during the third battle of Panipat in 1761. While they were all converted to Islam, they continue to bear a strong connection to their Maratha roots and have managed to establish themselves in Balochistan as a major community. The Marathas remained slaves for the next 150 years, before slowly working their way to prosperity. Their wedding ceremonies are still quite similar to the Maratha nuptials and they continue to use Maratha titles before their names.Did Battle of Panipat have any impact on Abdali? Somewhat but didn't stop to invade again. He reinvaded in 1762 to avenge the Sikhs for the slaughter, loot and saving some Maratha slaves. Abdali forces killed 20000 Sikh civilians and soldiers. Sikhs avenged and ended Abdali's 6th invasion till he reinvaded again 1764 and in Battle of Sirhind, he finally never returned after loss. Also some more facts: Malhar Rao escaped the battlefield thinking Bhau was killed. Parvati Bai actually fled with four soldiers leaving civilians behind. Once Bhau came down from his elephant, there was panic that Bhau has been killed and all started fleeing the battlefield who actually weren't aware that Bhau was up front in a combat. Eventually Bhau was killed.Sadashiv Bhau during his end battling bravely surrounded by Afghan army. Marathas didn't recover till 1772. ------ How do Russian citizens feel about their government? Most of people are sceptical. This would be the best definition. The Soviet Union era have taught people not to believe whatever the politicians say. Then, there are different groups of people: older people, often from provincial towns and villages. With Putin, their life has got better, that's true. So they generally support him. There's no love, they just have this feeling -- "it's the best we can have now"the businessmen. They are too practical to get into any sentiment. Having a lot to criticize, they usually don't hesitate to exploit different "holes" in the current system, using bribes and reducing taxes. So basically they play the same game, and they know it.the opposition. Traditionally for Russia, this is a group of idealistic maximalists, who want "it all" to change right now, intolerant to any real or imagined problems, ready to hate and to blame. They are famous for the lack of definite plans how to change things to better, and for not having a wish to do any dialogue with the current power. Many of them are also haters of Russia in general, stating that Russia was always a bad place with a bad government, Tsar or Bolshevik."the patriots". Probably not the best word for this group, consisting from people who connect their life with Russia and really want it to get better and prosper. Usually they are doing some practical job and try to change things in smaller ways by their own impact and initiatives. They understand that to change anything it is needed to find some common language to people in power, and are ready to work together. Although they don't like the government, they are eager to notice not only problems and failures, but also positive actions. They see that Russia's current government is 100% Soviet, and it could not be otherwise after 23 years of the collapse of the USSR. There's time needed for people with another mind to gain power, and they hope it will happen some day.
Introduction of Common Faults and Preventive Countermeasures of Electric Stainless Steel Flange Ball
Electric stainless steel flange ball valve is very popular in the current market and has many advantages. How to detect the common problems of electric stainless steel flange ball valve? How to effectively avoid the common problems of globe valve?1. Before application and installation, customers should make clear whether the commodity economy manufacturer's product characteristics and chemical substance injection arrow icon are consistent with the situation in sports and fitness work, and clean the inner cavity of the electric stainless steel flange ball valve. It is not allowed to have additional sediment and unclean things on the sealing ring and butterfly plate. It is not allowed to close the butterfly plate before it is removed to prevent damage to the sealing ring.2. It is recommended to adopt the special flange for butterfly valve, i.e. hgj54-91 socket welded steel flange.3. The best position for installation in the pipeline is vertical installation, but it cannot be partially inverted.4. Be sure to adjust the flow during operation, and there is a rack and pinion box for control.5. For the electric stainless steel flange ball valve with more opening and closing times, open the rack and pinion engine cover in about two months, check whether the vegetable butter is normal, and keep an appropriate amount of vegetable butter.6. Check that the connecting parts are required to be clamped tightly, which not only ensures the tightness of the filler, but also ensures the flexible rotation of the high-pressure gate valve.7. Metal composite sealing butterfly valve products are not suitable for installation at the tail of the pipeline. If they are installed at the tail of the pipeline as far as possible, professional skills and talents shall be selected to add some inlet and outlet flanges to prevent overstocking and over positioning of the sealing ring.8. The installation and application of high-pressure gate valve reflects the expected effect of maintenance and application of electric stainless steel flange ball valve, and common problems are eliminated immediately.fqj

How to Get Rid of Acne: Thanks to Mama Bear for the following. Lemon Juice Rub fresh lemon juice on your pimples with a gentle hand. The bleaching properties of lemon juice lighten the skin and thus reduce its appearance. Moreover, it removes the topmost layer of the skin surface where bacteria grows and controls the infection. Thus the healthy underlying skin is revealed. If you hesitate to use concentrated lemon juice on the pimple as you fear it may cause skin irritation, then you can dilute it with rose water. Application of Ice This is an easy way to get rid of pimples overnight. You have to pack up some crushed ice in an aluminum foil in order to prevent them from getting melted quickly. Then put it inside a plastic bag and wrap up the pack with a thin towel. Now apply it over the pimples for 10 to 15 minutes. This will shrink the pores forcing the oil and dirt out of it. When the two main culprits are out, you can expect the pimple to clear up in no time. Toothpaste You can get rid of pimples overnight using toothpaste. Many people find it highly beneficial for this purpose. Take some toothpaste on the tip of your finger and apply it on the pimple in such a way that the entire pimple is covered up with the toothpaste properly. Leave it on the pimple overnight. Next morning when you wash it off with warm water, you will be pleasantly surprised with the result. The trick is that the toothpaste absorb all the oil from the pimple and reduce its size so much that it becomes invisible. However, a toothpaste with gel content is not suitable for this treatment. Baking Soda Baking soda is considered as one of the best home remedies for getting rid of pimples overnight. Prepare a thick paste using one cup of baking soda, 3 tablespoons of salt and some water. Rub this paste gently over the affected areas of your face making small circular motions. Leave it on the acne for few minutes and then wash your face with cool water. The exfoliant property of the salt removes the dead skin cells from the pores. The baking soda soften up the skin and restore the normal pH balance of the skin. As a result, the pimple clears up fast. Egg Mask A simple egg mask can help you in getting rid of pimples from your face. Take one or two eggs as per your requirement. Break them and separate the white portion of the eggs from the yolk. It is the egg white that you need to apply as facial mask on your face. Keep it on the face overnight and then wash off with cold water. Apple Cider Vinegar Apple cider vinegar is known for its healing and disinfecting properties. To apply it, start with washing the face thoroughly with an antibacterial soap. Pat dry with a towel and then taking a cotton ball apply apple cider vinegar evenly on the affected skin. Leave on for fifteen minutes before washing it off with cold water. Steam and Clean In the very initial stages of acne when it is still a small zit or just in the form of whitehead and blackhead you can try doing this. Clean your face with cleansing milk using cotton pads. Now scrub it with a gentle face scrub. Take steam on your face for about 8-10 minutes. Now take a sterilized blackhead remover and clean the blackheads and whiteheads. You can also try squeezing pimples if they are very small. Use a clean cotton pad to clean the pus or blood that flows out. Now finish by cleaning the area with an antiseptic lotion or a toner. This procedure will help keep your skin clean and avoid further acne breakouts. Following this everyday before going to bed is one of the easiest ways to get rid of acne fast at home. Acne Prevention Tips Do not touch the skin areas which are affected by acne with your fingers, as it can spread the infection to other skin areas as well. Maintain hygiene i.e., use clean bed sheets, pillow cases and towels. Dirty towels can be the breeding ground of germs and bacteria, thereby causing severe cases of acne breakouts. Dandruff and oil in hair can cause acne too, so to prevent that, avoid doing such hair styles which make your hair touch or fall on your face. Exercise everyday as it helps in proper blood circulation, and adequate transfer of oxygen to all the body cells. Exercising will help in both reducing stress and preventing acne. Take shower after undertaking any kind of exercise or physical activity to prevent dirt and sweat from getting accumulated in the skin pores. Drink lots of fluids and water as it will help in elimination of wastes and toxins from the body, resulting in a blemish free, glowing skin. Take care! Mama Bear1. Battery Wont Charge in My Car?
Battery wont charge in my car?I've read all the responses to your problem and they are good ones, with the esception of the one stating your battery should read 14 volts. With your car running, put your multimeter on the cable terminals attached to your battery. You should get a reading of 14 volts. The electrical system in an automobile is said to be a 12 volt system, but this is slightly misleading. The charging system in most cars will generally produce a voltage between 13.5 and 14.4 volts while the engine is running. It has to generate more voltage than the battery's rated voltage to overcome the internal resistance of the battery. This may seem strange, but the current needed to recharge the battery would not flow at all if the charging system's output voltage was the same as the battery voltage. A greater difference of potential (voltage) between the battery's voltage and the alternator's output voltage will provide a faster charging rate. As long as the engine is running, all of the power for the accessories is delivered by the alternator. The battery is actually a load on the charging system. The only time that the battery would supply power with the engine running is when the current capacity of the alternator is exceeded or when engine is at a very low idle Some people tell you that you can check your alternator by disconnecting it from the battery to see if the alternator can produce enough current to keep the engine running. Disconnecting the battery will subject the voltage regulator (and computer and audio equipment.) to significant voltage spikes which may cause an otherwise good alternator to fail. Notice how bright they are. Then turn the engine off. The lights should get dimmer when you turn the engine off. If the lights get brighter when you kill the engine, the alternator was not charging sufficiently. With a heavy load, an otherwise good alternator may not be able to produce sufficient amounts of current at idle.— — — — — —Volvo battery keeps going dead?the alternator can still work and be bad, alternators in order to work properly have to charge at 14.5 volts 12 volts for the vehicles electrical system 2.5 to recharge the battery so if the car has say 13volts its bad and since you have a direct drain on the battery at all times it will never charge. If your going to continue to drive the vehicle you need to rewire the fan through a switch so it can be turned on and off inside the vehicle and You will not have to worry about it draining the battery when the car is off hope that helps Lr— — — — — —itouch switching off with full battery?!?!?Your battery is likewise defective. Apple has a marvelous application in which you will purely walk in or make an appointment at a community Apple shop and that they are going to look at it without spending a dime. If its defective interior a twelve months, (which yours is likewise) they are going to replace the battery for you without spending a dime. in line with what is incorrect, they are going to % to the two thoroughly replace or purely fix your ipod.— — — — — —Alternator or battery?Buy a volt meter from an accessory auto shop or hardware, they are cheap. Connect positive red lead to positive and black lead to - negative. See what the voltage is. Jump start the car and see what the voltage is. It should charge when motor running 13. 5 14. 5 volts, if so the alternator is working and charging. If the battery reading is below 12 volts when stopped it is either flat and needs charged or the battery is warn out. The jump start if your friends car could have just been to much for it, but if so it was on it's way out anyway.— — — — — —Does charging a battery increase the battery's mass? There's no difference that's measurable but also I think not even a difference in weight from the number of electrons inside your battery because to my knowledge charging does not actually add electrons but just moves them around. I think charging the battery just strips electrons from ions in the anode(negative part) of the battery so that they become positive and move across a transfer facilitator called a salt bridge back to the cathode(positive side) without adding or removing any electrons from the battery as a whole. I remember that much from chemistry, I hope that's correct.

Some Questions About Water Answered
Do you want to know about water? Here are some frequently asked questions.1. my dishwasher fills up with water when it is not used, WHY?Dishwasher Filling With Water2. Leak Detection | Pittsburgh Water & Sewer AuthorityLeaking toilets, faucets, showerheads, and other plumbing can waste a lot of water. In fact, a household with a leak wastes an average of 10,000 gallons of water each year. Detecting and repairing leaks is often easy and can save homeowners up to 10 percent on their water bills. In general, your senses are your best tool. Listen for water running continuously, smell for foul odors coming from a water source, and look for puddling water near your plumbing. If you think a leak exists, shut off all water-using appliances, faucets, showers, and outdoor tools such as hoses or sprinklers. Next, check if your low flow indicator on your water meter has stopped moving. If the indicator is still moving, there is probably a leak somewhere. In rare cases, a water meter itself may be the problem. If attempting repairs on your own, remember to turn off the correct water valve before you start. Here are some more easy tips you can follow to detect household leaks: If you suspect a toilet leak, check the flapper valve, overflow pipe, and float, which are all located inside the toilet tank. You can also identify a toilet leak by putting a drop of food coloring in the tank. If color shows up in the bowl after 10 minutes, a leak is highly likely. To fix a toilet leak, consult a licensed plumber, hardware store, or home improvement retailer. Make sure all faucets are shut tight when not in use, and be sure to check under the sink as well. If water appears to be leaking from a faucet, you may need to remove and replace worn or damaged washers or other parts. Before replacing these parts, be sure that the replacements are properly sized. This can be done by taking the broken part with you to a hardware store. Showerheads that leak at just 10 drops per minute waste up to 500 gallons per year. For simple leaks, make sure there is a tight connection between the showerhead and pipe stem. Pipe tape made of Teflon found at most hardware stores is easy to apply and can often help control leaks. It's also a good idea to check the washer or other parts inside the showerhead for damage. More complicated leaks should be passed along to a licensed plumber for repairs. Soggy spots in your lawn indicate a leak with a sprinkler or service line.3. Is bottled water a good example of privatization? You can still beat them at their own game. I have used the same bottles for over a year, I wash them & refill at home or work, out of the water cooler. My son has a few too, one for school, one for his room. The savings do add up, & when I find free bottles of water, I take them & use them too! Sometimes, the local water is not good. I lived in an old farmhouse & we had to buy water to cook with. The water was so acidic, it leeched copper out of the pipes. The shower was always green, & needed cleaning. This was right outside Princeton NJ too, not some backwater town or country. It still had well water & it was bad because of all the chemicals used on the old farm. The farm became a tree farm, then went untended & the house rented out. We did get nice if not overgrown Christmas trees there! Now, it belongs to the town, & is a water park.4. Avoiding Water Pressure Loss in Your ShowerAny loss in shower water pressure is an annoyance, even if it's just a short disruption due to a flushed toilet. And of course, it's much worse if it's a chronic problem that makes it harder to rinse away shampoo and soap. There are several ways of fixing and preventing this common problem, but they vary depending on the root cause. If your shower has a pressure balancing valve -- where there's a single knob or handle to control both the temperature and flow of water -- you are probably at risk of water pressure interruptions due to the use of other nearby fixtures. The classic example is when a flushing toilet causes both a water temperature change and a drop in pressure. This type of valve mixes hot and cold water together at a certain pressure level. When the toilet flushes, cold water is diverted to refill the tank, which causes a pressure drop in the cold water line. It takes a pressure balancing valve a couple of seconds to adjust, during which time the water may turn very hot because the valve is not getting all the cold water it needs. And then when the valve does adjust, it does so by reducing the pressure coming from the hot water line, resulting in an overall drop in pressure. Fortunately, there's another type of shower valve that allows you to avoid this problem entirely. It's called a thermostatic mixing valve, and it offers separate controls for water temperature and pressure. Call your trusted plumber to ask about upgrading to one of these valves. If you have a bathtub and shower combo, you probably have a diverter valve -- a knob or switch that diverts water from the bathtub faucet up to the showerhead. These valves can malfunction or break after so many years of service, and the result could be that the valve can not open enough to send full water pressure to the showerhead. This is a likely culprit if water flows from the bathtub faucet at full pressure but fails to match that pressure from the showerhead. A plumber can confirm this diagnosis and complete the repair with a replacement diverter valve. When your water pressure problem affects all of the fixtures in your home, the cause could be close to the water source. In some homes, a device called a water pressure reduction valve is connected to the main water line near the point where it enters the home. This valve can malfunction, break or fall out of adjustment -- and all three are jobs for a professional plumber. The worst possible cause of a shower pressure drop is a broken pipe since the resulting leak could do serious damage to an unseen area of your home. If you can hear water running when and where it should not be, or if you suddenly notice dripping or water stains, shut off your water supply at the main valve and call a plumber for emergency service right away. On the other hand, the best-case scenario is that your showerhead is simply dirty and clogged. To get a close look, unscrew your shower head from the wall if possible. You may want to soak it in an appropriate cleaning solution for several minutes before cleaning all the nozzles thoroughly with an old toothbrush. If you live in an area with hard water, you may also have mineral deposit accumulation inside your pipes. This reduces flow gradually and will eventually have a noticeable effect on water pressure. This problem can be avoided with the installation of a water softening system, but pipes that are badly clogged may need to be professionally cleaned or replaced. Ca not track down the source of your water pressure problem? Not sure how to proceed with fixing it? Call your Benjamin Franklin Plumbing at 800-259-7705 and let the pros tackle the job.
Ideas to Prepare Thoughtful Gift for Others
Normalization, Discipline and Childhood DeviationsMany traditional educational settings, and adults, view discipline as something that comes from external sources and is imposed upon an individual.Montessorians believe that discipline comes from within the individual and that it is born from meaningful experiences carried out in a well planned environment (for classroom discipline and management). Hand-in-hand with discipline comes normalization. Normalization is a key concept in the Montessori Method and is truly what the adult seeks to help each child achieve so that they may continue down an obstacle free path and develop their mind and personality as intended by nature. This is a transformation so powerful that it can even transform the adult within the child's environment. If all environments were normalized there would be no need for divisive behavior management techniques, cajoling and threatening (eg: authoritarian leadership) on the part of the adult and time could be better be spent on allowing children to achieve their construction of self, especially during the first plane of development, ages 0-6. Obstacles to normalization fall under four categories for a child; those that happen prenatally (eg: fetal alcohol syndrome), effects of the time and space which the child is born into (eg: war torn areas, poverty) those from within child (eg: illness and structural defects to the brain) and from the adult (eg: parenting style, lack of knowledge about development). These obstacles can cause deviations in the child. These deviations are not "evil" in the sense of good and bad, they are like ruts in the road that keep the child from taking the best path to the formation of a healthy, normalized adult. If the experiences happen during the first plane of development, when the power that is the absorbent mind (with its ability to take in the totality of an experience) is active, these deviations can become a permanent fixture of the character, or permanent as an inability on the part of the child. This is especially true as the doors to individual sensitive periods start to narrow when the child ages (the child who is not given opportunities for movement during the sensitive period for movement may have later complications eg: the current correlation between ADHD and children with weak spinal muscles from lack of prone positions at an early stage in development. Their deviation is then the amount of energy drawn towards keeping the child upright instead of processing higher order functions). Montessori classified children into two categories: those who were "weak children", usually passive children who submit or surrender to the obstacles, are whiney or clingy and at the farthest end of the spectrum lie or steal (passive defenses) and those who were "strong children", usually aggressivechildren who resist obstacles, prone to aggression, fighting and defending themselves. A weak child may combat an obstacle such as abuse or poverty by becoming withdrawn, non-talkative. A strong child may combat the same obstacles by becoming aggressive, lashing out at the surrounding environment. With these obstacles there could be the feeling of hopelessness, which could become a deviation such as the inability to read because the child sees no reason to try. The belief that there is no hope is a self-constructed barrier in response to what feels like an insurmountable obstacle and eventually there is a lack of trying which leads to an inability. These obstacles could also cause the child to splinter from reality into a fugue of fantasy, a constructed mental environment made by the child as a form of escape. When a child is received into the Casa (a Montessori Primary Class for ages 3-6) the goal of the guide is to help children navigate through the collective stage of the community, when deviations may be present, towards normalization. The end goal of normalization is achieved through freely chosen, purposeful work, done by the hands, using real objects that create an unification of physical and mental energies. This unification is known as concentration and it is exhibited by a focused attention with control of movement both in body and hands, a repetition of the work with growing exactness and precision until the work is perfected, bringing pleasure. The pleasure for the child does not come from a "perfect" completion of the extrinsic physical work, but from some part of an intrinsic formation of self (a mind, body, spirit connection) which has been met and brings a sense of release. In the end regardless of the obstacles to normalization that a child may face, the sooner the child is within a normalized environment, the easier it will be to heal the deviations that are present. Both strong and weak personality types can, when exposed to self-directed, hands on experiences of real materials leading to concentration, establish self-discipline and social discipline, two outcomes that will create an obstacle free path down which the child can further develop their mind and personality.
