Hey there!What's vital is that this 'light' food fills you up- this is called a 'satiable food'.These examples are my favorite for breakfast time:Eggs (you can have a variety- scrambled, fried, boiled, etc.)Oatmeal (I suggest adding fruits & nuts)Smoothie (it's light because it's all blended and therefore, it's easier to digest)Yogurt (add some fruit, granola, nuts, etc. )Toast (just don't overfill it with much & make sure your bread is the wholemeal kind)Fruits (you can make a fruit salad, dip fruits in nut butter or enjoy them on their own)Coffee (make it piping-hot so it's more filling)Hope this helps! :)What is the lightest food for breakfast?

No it doesn't. Never skip breakfast as it will sap your energy levels thorughout the day. However, avoid deep fried stuff for breakfast and processed meats. So say no to doughnuts, burgers and sausages (except for the occasional treat). Eat a healthy breakfast and include fruit, eggs, wholewheat toast, tea and maybe cereals.At breakfast time, your body has been without food for anything between 7 to 9 hours. If you skip breakfast, the body goes into starvation mode. So the next time you eat, which most likely will be a heavy lunch, your body will tend to preserve a good part of the meal as fat, intending to use it to produce energy the next time you starve yourself. That's how we are programmed to function, like it or not :)Avoid a heavy dinner. Have a light dinner and take it early, latest by 9 pm, so that your body gets at least two hours to metabolize the food before you hit the sack. While you sleep, the metabolic rate shows down, so sleeping immediately after dinner will increase fat accumulation in your body.Avoid midnight snacking, and try and get some exercise regularly.Reduce consumption of fats such as butter and cheese (do not give them up completely as these are otherwise healthy sources of Vitamin D and protein respectively), and control how much carbs you consume (refined flour, polished rice and potatoes - especially fried potatoes). My children don't want to eat much during the day but...?

Bad, bad, bad... (I am talking to you, get over here and bend on my knee -- because it's you that needs the spanking) Your husband is right... first off, no one should eat within 3 hours of bedtime, It's not about being fatter, because the TIME does not weigh in as much as what they are eating (meaning the calories, fat, fastfood vs. healthier choices that your feeding them anyhow). And kids have mega-metabolisms that burn off anything they eat... Now, it's hard to argue with you -- since you are such a hottie mom (now that I see your pics!), but your hubby needs to playfully win this battle, and change YOUR thinking in order to iron-out the little ones, from now. (What I would do.. is tell you if you settle a routine over meals, I would make out with you in Macy's windows, in Herald Square.. or something... which is something I would do anyhow, who am I kidding?). Or, give you Coupons for "services"... he needs an imagination, with you. Now, back to it... What you are doing is allowing THEM to set the agenda over eating habits -- and that's one of the Power struggles they know of, this early... meaning THEY control what & when they eat, and you comply. It's simple, but not only should they NOT have a choice (you should not even have them point to anything, as you grocery-shop.. maybe just leave them home?). But, you have to, have to, have to set ROUTINES for them to conform to.. as your House Rules from now... they are actually bucking TWO major routines that should be set in Stone already, at once -- Dinner Time and Bed Time. A half-hour before bed, these kids should be in pj's with teeth brushed, bathed (whatever), and being read to... not eating, and certainly not with the TV or game system on (which I am starting to suspect). Dinner time, is dinner time. Breakfast time is breakfast time. And lunchtime is lunchtime. These are 3 very, very simple routines that need to be socialized & taken as Bible Law around your house -- because these kids will be going to school soon, and will live a more stringent daytime, outside of your home. They also will need to adapt to Homework Time, brushing teeth routines, reading, bathing.. all basic to a kid.
