Sometimes when kids go through a growth spurt their bodies grow faster than their bladder and they have accidents. In the meantime you can get a plastic mattress cover, but I would not make him wear anything

There is a simple way to get your child to stay in his bed. Although there is no "handbook" for raising children, this technique has not only proven itself it has also been passed down verbally from generation to generation. Simply tell your son that there is a monster that will eat his feet and drag him under the bed. It wo not kill him. .. at least not at first. First it will knock him around and tear his fingernails off, rip an arm off and beat him with it a little bit... and then kill him. But all this can be avoided if he just stays real quiet and stays in bed. Guaranteed that will be the last time you will have to stay with him until he falls asleep. .... though he may start wetting the bed. I guess you have to choose your battles.

I've got the answer for you! My boyfriend pulled this on me and it was adorable, unexpected and really easy - it will get a good laugh. The last few weeks we would been working opposite shifts and had hardly seen each other. We started to miss each other a little, you know, so he told me to just close my eyes when I went in his room and lay down on the pillow to smell it and pretend it's him. Corny, I know and so unlike him. Well... (Here's the kicker) when I got home that night he had blocked off every room but his bedroom and left the lights on. When I looked there on his bed, there he was! Sort of... He printed out life-sized pictures of our heads, and stuck them to the clothing of each of ours that he stuffed with pillows and other clothes. He arranged "us" cuddling on the bed. It's scary how deceiving it looks with your regular clothes creating just your size and just your face pillow people. Really funny though and he will appreciate the creativity.

I do not have any suggestions because my 3 yr old does the same thing and his bed is in our room too. Wherever his bed is he will come into our bed. I have just accepted it. Edit: I will add that I have been told you are "supposed" to take them back to their bed whenever they get up but frankly, both myself and husband are too tired to do that in the middle of the night.
